Sept 14th, 2008 High 70's today, sounds sweet? Forecast is for rain again (BIG SURPRISE?) Few days left to ride and I will get as many in as I can. We are going on our 3rd year on the internet and thinking towards spring already. Looking for a few meets and greets this un-ride-able season that is almost upon us. We came away this year with some really great contacts and future event sponsors. We have some plans in the works come spring and early summer and looking for groups/individuals to work with us. Long way away and still early in plans. Will keep everyone up when things get closer to finalization. Remember to forward information and we will get it posted.
Sept 7th, 2008 Summers quickly coming to an end. Riding as much as I can, next ride will be off to see the colors in the Green Mountains and maybe a long route back through the Adirondacks. A friend wrecked his bike the other day and is still in ICU. Lots of injuries and most will be long term. Joe is in our thoughts and prayers. Anyone wishing to send well wishes let me know as I intend a visit. I have received some information of another Veteran/Remembrance Wall in Corry, PA and have sent numerous emails to one of the contacts there. He has invited anyone who wishes to go and see opening ceremonies Sept 19, 2008 The PA Governor is going to be there. There will be a "Standing in Honor" http://www.corrysd.net What is the most surprising thing is this is a student driven project, done by students and run by students. I mailed out some pins and a flag to them, sending thanks for them honoring our Veterans, Fireman, Policemen and anyone who has a place of honor serving our Country.
August 17, 2008 Took a ride down to see the turnout for the Jeffrey Wyand Ride. Great turnout and thanks for the Clinton County Sheriffs and State Police for providing the ride escort. I got some pictures posted for the ride, from the Duquette road and then the final leg to the end of Broad Street. I saw some people from out of State which is good. This ride benefits the Children's Hospital of Vermont and is in memory of Jeffrey Wyand who was lost to childhood cancer. Looked to be about 200 riders and passengers that turned out. Weather was sunny and warm.
August 5th, 2008 The number of motorcycle sales has increased by almost 20% and of those 40% are woman who are learning to ride. http://www.Deti.org is a place to find out where to take the learners' course. There has been a phone scam listing an "unknown number" or "number not shown" raising funds for the brotherhood of police. REMEMBER if they can't mail you the information, they aren't worth the time! Never give out credit cards or social security numbers or bank info to anyone! (giving me cash is good) Donations should be made in person! (remember, giving cash is good) Get a receipt for everything, regardless. Now we have determined that, I have some riding to do! See you on the Road!
July 22, 2008 Summer is flying by. Still a lot of riding this coming season. Just got an email from Charlie over at Biker Charity Ride, http://www.bikercharityride.com/ with his updated site. Looks great, looking forward to riding with him one day. He raises money for causes that we all should think about everyday and rides for these events. Please take a look at his site and donate towards it. Or you can always get me here and I will get Charlie to contact you. The Legion Rider Biker week/weekend is coming fast Adirondack Lake Champlain Chapter of the American Legion Riders (whew!, long name), great bunch, are sponsoring this event. Many other groups coming from around the tri-planet area, to attend. From what I have heard, sounds like a happening place to be that week. Check out the events page for all listings. See you on the Road!
July 2nd, 2008 Happy Birthday America, where Freedom of Speech still Reigns, although this past month has been trying. I think I can get past it. The things I have heard. Grab a piece of floor, hang on, and lets see where this ride ends! The 4rth of July is coming fast and the weekend is going to be upon us before we know it! I was at the Veterans Park and got to see a list of bricks not yet done! Updates on that site soon. The riding season is going well, and all in all, the weather is still wet, but am still able to get out to ride myself. Miles, upon smiles! Leave the threats and lawyers to the mature folks, and lets Ride! Thank God VAG has been onboard some ventures of ours. See you on the Road!
June 26th, 2008 Met with Tammy Seymour this past week, Champlain Radio Group, and heard about the Mayor's Cup plans. Sounds like it is going to be a great event. A wedding is being planned in Lake George on the 4rth of July, may god rest his soul! Congrats to the soon to be Spouses! Going to get video from Memorial Day Parade and services soon. Can't wait to check it all out. Looking forward to the next ride, where ever it may take us. Some goups are planning some good events. Others, well, we will see when the next invite comes. Look towards the Toy Run in August, sponsored by the ARMC. See you on the Road!
June 22nd, 2008 Congrats to the Relay for Life Cancer Walk in Clinton County, exceeding last years goal by almost $50,000 this year. 500 extra people this year, translates into lots of teams! It was a good night to have it and Thanks to Zero Tolerance Band for being there to provide the entertainment. Lots of rain again this beginning of summer and outlook is still looking wet. Rain Gear, rain gear, rain gear, nuff said! See you on the Road!
June 9th, 2008 Well, the Americade has come to an end. Just waiting to hear what the final numbers are going to be. The Vermont Rally has gone to the past also, I hope everything went according to plans and they had good luck. It was a beautiful weekend in Rutland, VT and the fairgrounds were cleaned up nicely. I plan on cruising the internet for articles about both events. Seems like a Poker run in Stillwater is coming up on the 14th of June and they ran into a hard bit of luck posting at a dealership. The American Legion Riders are a great bunch, no matter the post. I hope this is the only downfall on your fundraiser. The weather looks fairly good and riding should be great Saturday. See you on the Road!
June 1st, 2008 Americade starts tomorrow and Old Forge ends today. Those who attend these rallies this year will have to have their bikes legal and not so loud to get there. Since Friday there has been over two hundred tickets issued for non-complience with NY state laws, including non-DOT helmets (skid lids and novelty helmets and a couple leather helmets) VT Thunder had a lady using a beanie for a helmet, I thought it was a hair band! I see some of our troops are home from Iraq. Welcome Home!!! Seems like everyone wants something for free. I have listed for
promotors last two seasons and not received return links or gratuity
promised. New Policies in effect this year for links and sponsors.
Seems like I have been listing for other sites with a promise of a
return link for mine. Sponsors using this site for free advertising
has come to an end. I will continue to list for private individuals
both under for sale and links pages. Groups that have sponsors will
need to list my link on their sites, unless it is a non-profit or
not-for-profit listing. I still will have the last word on what is
posted. National groups that have rides and events still welcomed
here, by all means, list. Selling and large for profit events will get
a listing, but remember us small time sites. I am a self supporting
and self-sustaining site. Most comes out of my own pocket and I have
many people asking for support and donations which I cannot and will
not donate monies to. I will also list for large events, Am-Jam, biker Rallies like always, but......We all love to ride! If you have a site you want listed here, I want a return link for mine, I will always return the favor!
May 27th Motorcycle New England had received news of a fallen family
member to Iraq one year ago Memorial Day. We held a memorial service
at the Plattsburgh Barracks Veterans Park last summer. Last year was
our first year on the VT Thunder run and we returned for the second
time this year. We were amazed by the number of people who ride on
this ride to honor our fallen vietnam service members from Vermont.
(138 fallen) We knew many of the riders there and look forward to
doing it again next year. Every year on the Sunday before Memorial
Day, Sharron, VT. It was well worth our time and Thank You VT-Thunder,
Combat Vets and all the groups and individuals who rode again this
year. We are looking to, maybe, sponsor a Memorial Ride to coincide
with this event to raise monies for the Plattsburgh Barracks Veterans
Park. Something to put to thought. See you on the Road!
May 26th Well, a lot of Lip Service from different groups, stating
they were going to "show up" to support our veterans on the Memorial
Day celebration. So well talked about and then a big nothing from these
guys. I just hope you tell the Vets what was more important. Next
years event on Memorial Day weekend is already being planned. First
year out renewing the parade and minor flaws, turned out pretty well.
Last year I saw the drawing for the new monument and then the unveiling
was spectacular. Thanks you, Anita,
Great job. Blue Stars, a big Thanks to you for doing it for all of
us. It would have been a great disappoinment to have missed being one
of the first to see it! See you on the Road!
May 20th Well, now it up to the higher powers to bring everyone to
the Memorial Day Parade and celelbration. I have spent many, many days
emailing and calling. I am hoping all works out well. Advertising
started late for this, but I see ads, flyers and commercials for it.
We are planning on attending and then off to Vermont for the Thunder
ride. I am going to meet up and speak with STAR Chapter out of Vermont
at the ride. Mike P and the guys from VT Thunder are still pulling
their events together. It was great meeting up with them at The Moving
Wall in ST Albans the other day! Great Job with the set-up.
May 7th, 2008 I have definately forgotten how is it is to plan!
Making my regular Memorial Days plans and doing invites to the many
groups I have met over the last two years and then trying to answers
questions and coordinate this small part I was given has been trying,
BUT, I will not be defeated or tired of trying to get it done! It Is MY
Pleasure. I remember what it was like leaving home with just a peck
on the cheek and pat on the back from family and then returning,
knowing how small of a token just a welcome home can be so big.
Imagine what it is like these days coming home from combat and a
complete stranger says "Welcome Home, we have you to thank!" Honor the
Vet in your life, check out the wall. I did yesterday and saw Civil
Air Patrol practicing for an event that noone will remember them being
there, except me and their families. Both of whom I thank tremendously
for being there. Pictures will be placed on this site and the http://plattsburghbarracksveteransparkwall.org site.
Now, I have word that the new batch of honories will have their bricks
on the wall by the ceremony on May 24th. I will be putting in extra
time placing them on the site as soon as they are up. See you on the Road!
April 24th, 2008 Been reading up on different riding profiles,
things like how to dress for warm and cold weathers. Gloves, boots,
those who wear shorts at highways speed need no to go any further,
Protective Gear! I like to wear shorts in city driving during biker
events, like parades or Rallies where everyone is going so slow if you
fall over, you break a nail, before hurting anything on your bike.
Speaking of parades, Plattsburgh is going to have one on May 23rd 2008
and has invited everyone on two wheels to join them. Party at the Oval
on the old Air Base! I am bringing myself and navigator with me.
Having to work on the holiday is not overly enjoyable this coming year,
but I will get thru it. On the May celebrations we will be honoring
soldiers coming home from Iraq and going over will be other troops who
will be honored and sadly sent on their way. We will want to thank
these brave people for risking their lives for us! See you on the Road!
April 18th, 2008 Another Riding Season upon us! Two new tires this year, wore out the rear one in under a year. I don't know if it was hard traveling or what, but well, we all know tires are the biggest expense on a bike and the most important. Lots of people contacting the site already. Been making as many phone calls as I am emailing. Things are looking fun for this summer. Anyone with some free time? See you on the Road!
